How does the body move when the world around us is stormy?

Turbulent Flows is a hypnotic dance experience in which the laws of physics meet human vulnerability and strength. Inspired by turbulent flows and the chaotic, creative forces of nature, choreographer Karolina Bieszczad-Stie casts the dancer into a living landscape of light, sound, smoke and movement.
A dynamic system is created on stage, each element reacting in real time: lasers cut through the fog, swirls of smoke respond to the dancer’s smallest gestures, and sensors transform air movements into sound. Small disruptions have a major impact, just as they do in life. This interplay expresses the essence of turbulence. The choreography takes the form of a living exploration of turbulence, both as a physical phenomenon and as a metaphor for navigating in complex, interwoven systems. It raises fundamental questions about control: who or what is in control, and who or what is being controlled.
Turbulent Flows is not an attempt to tame chaos, but an exploration of how we can live in it. The production looks at what happens when control slips away, and at how new patterns, new opportunities and new understandings can be formed in the midst of uncertainty.
This is dance which rolls together experimentation, poetry and physical research. A sensory journey into the power of turbulence and our own ability to change.
