The body’s connection to a world controlled by tempo and technology.

To Be a Body, Is to Be Tied to a Certain World is a dance production that uses multiple forms of artistic expression to explore how the rapid development of technology is affecting our bodies, our era and our ability to be present. Through dance, sound, video and textiles, the audience is invited to reflect on what it means to be human in an age when technology and nature are constantly shaping each other. Can we decelerate enough to rediscover the connection between ourselves and nature, or are we losing our grip as we grapple with the unstoppable acceleration of technology and its consequences on our existence?

Video, textiles and sound create an absorbing universe in which the dancer’s movements activate sensors that generate sound, with the sound in turn affecting their movement. This reciprocal exchange makes every performance unique. The choreography switches between calm, meditative sequences and rapid, repetitive patterns that reflect human life in a world dominated by both tranquillity and tempo.

In collaboration with composer Lars Andreas Nilssen and visual artist Aleksander Johan Andreassen, Phinitduang has created a coordinated expression in which dance, sound, video and scenography act as equal elements, forming a living landscape that opens us up to reflection and presence.
