In Gjenstand og fortvilelse, Ingun Bjørnsgaard explores everyday situations and human fallibility in close collaboration with the dancers Catharina Vehre Gresslien, Ludvig Daae and Ida Wigdel.

The three experienced dancers have worked together in many of Bjørnsgaard’s works, and have developed a shared reflection which enables them to dive deeper into the movement-based exploration of the ambiguous and the vulnerable, related to a visual dramaturgy.

With literary and aesthetic references to works including Skikk og bruk (J.W. Cappelen Forlag, 1960), layer by layer the production explores new choreographic spaces around the trials and tribulations of relationships. The book methodically presents options in a continued reflection on the preferred ways of acting and behaving correctly, based on the many pitfalls of uncertainty and embarrassment that are at stake in any situation involving other people. And at the same time, irrational forces are highlighted in the production’s ideas on self-control.
