Contemporary dance on skates - in Furuset Forum!

For the very first time, Dansens Hus is presenting a production on skates, and also for the very first time, contemporary dance will be performed in a skating rink in Oslo.

It caused a massive sensation in 2014 when the Canadian Le Patin Libre group premièred its first production, a revolutionary demonstration of dance on skates. Despite the fact that all of the dancers are experienced figure skaters, this is not figure skating. This is contemporary dance on ice as you have never seen it before. The skaters make maximum use of possibilities of the unique, gliding movement pattern. Their bodies hiss through space at high speed, seemingly without moving a muscle. The audience, who experience the production close up to the dancers on the ice, is taken into another world in which gravity appears not to exist. Athletic virtuosity combines with exuberant physicality in a production that completely redefines what dancing on skates can be.

Since its earliest days in 2005, Le Patin Libre, which is based in Montreal in Canada, has developed into an ambitious, artistic project in which their method of dancing on skates has essentially created a unique art form. All their productions are based around the opportunities created by gliding movements on skates. This is the magic that they play with, for their own enjoyment and for the enjoyment of a growing audience across the world.

- joyously engaging performers, communicating a pure body rush of liberation and space
