Welcome to the slugverse!

This sensory production invites us into a tactile landscape, in which we move through the intimate and spectacular mating ritual of slugs. Created by four gay women, the slugs become a slimy metaphor for queerness.

The performers move through a variety of physical experiences, create intricate mechanisms and burst out in moments of explosive desire. As they slide and swell and slip, the dance becomes reminiscent of our own sweaty human encounters.

Throughout history, homosexuality and sexual variance in animals has been branded ‘a crime against nature.’ Same-sex sexual behaviour in nature has been documented since the early 18th century, but has been left out of science because of widespread attitudes to homosexuality in humans. OOZE illustrates that this diversity always has been, and always will be, an essential part of the incredible world of nature.
