In this world premiere by the two renowned choreographers Ingri Fiksdal and Solveig Styve Holte, dancer Amie Mbye dances alongside 9 youths from the Gamle Oslo district to create HORDE.
Their production/piece/show/performance is a summer job for nine girls aged 15-18, all from the district of Gamle Oslo. HORDE is a choreographic piece which – through both set-up and presentation – takes a close look at exactly who is granted access to works of art (and who is not). HORDE examines how choreography can be an agent of change, for the benefit of other, possible future communities.
HORDE is an exercise in mutual sensibility and listening. Its choreographic language holds a polyphony of ways to act as a community where the power of the masses – and their ability to bring on change – becomes visible.
Ingri Fiksdal and Solveig Styve Holte are two renowned Norwegian choreographers who have produced and toured several shows/performances both nationally and internationally. Amie Mbye dances and performs together with nine teens from the district of Gamle Oslo.
This performance is presented in collaboration with MUNCH, and is co-produced by MUNCH, CODA, Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo and Dansens Hus.
We are looking to creating a performance that can provide a multitude of visions and aesthetic experiences of what it means to be a group/assemblage, or horde. Choreographically, we will look for multi-voiced and contrasting references to (the) community.
