Forfatterbevegelsen is made up of six solos performed by six authors. Each of them has chosen one of their own literary works which they could imagine republishing in the form of contemporary dance. Reinvented as dance, the literary works have also been given new titles. The Authors in motion pieces are Walking the dog, Biltema, Two hundred and seventy nine, A ceremony elsewhere, There is never any joy here, and A folk dance.

Forfatterbevegelsen shows how specific rhythms, tempos, moods and transfers in text can also be found in the bodies of the people who conceived and wrote them. After many years of being interested in the written form through her work as a dance artist, choreographer Marie Bergby Handeland developed the urge to work on movement with people who sit motionless, writing. Working closely with the authors Henning Bergsvåg, Gro Dahle, Tina Åmodt, Kjartan Fløgstad, Gunstein Bakke and Aina Villanger, Marie explores what kind of movement language lies within an author.

Marie Bergby Handeland (born in 1986) studied at Iceland Academy of the Arts, Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, and Forfatterstudiet i Bø. Marie has long been interested in working with non-professionals, so Authors in Motion is a natural progression in her work as an artist. Bergby Handeland describes her work as a choreographer as a persistent pressure on the body, something which rather than working negatively to restrict, suppress and flatten bodies, instead strives to push them outward into ever-increasing expansions. Her work is driven by a curiosity about what happens when different people from a variety of social and cultural contexts are given the chance to occupy the stage, and what opportunities this gives them to bring the general public into their work.
