Proximity, distance, and new connections emerge within a landscape that never stands still.

The boundaries between bodies, objects, and surroundings gradually shift in a space where the familiar opens up to new connections, perspectives, and relationships. In The fold of ^ a Landscape, Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki invite audiences into a universe in constant transformation.

Through subtle movements, changing spatial situations, and unexpected encounters, a landscape of continuous transformation unfolds. Bodies move towards one another, drift apart, and form ever-changing relationships. Light, sound, and scenographic elements become active participants in a choreography where nothing remains fixed, and where the space itself seems to breathe, stretch, and change shape.

Rather than telling a linear story, the work opens a sensory and reflective space for observation, presence, and imagination. Audiences are invited to experience how community, distance, and belonging can emerge, disappear, and re-emerge through movement.

Through their long-standing collaboration, Avdal and Shinozaki have developed a distinctive artistic language in which choreography, scenography, and perception are closely intertwined. The fold of ^ a Landscape continues their exploration of how spaces and relationships are shaped, shifted, and continuously reimagined.
