As a young girl Kristin Ryg Helgebostad was a cheerleader. This is a performance about cheering!

In Cheers!, Kristin Ryg Helgebostad - who really used to be a cheerleader for Frisk Asker Hockey - creates such a merciless distortion of a cheerleader show that it is virtually unrecognisable, though the cheering never stops! Go go go!

The core of Cheers! is cheering! Cheering is an unpredictable force which strengthens, weakens and never reaches a conclusion about what it is actually cheering for. Cheering is love and manipulation, either individually or collectively. The artists create a telepathic, collective field of consciousness in which new, unimagined forces and contexts can arise.

Together with bellringer Laura Marie Rueslåtten, performers Marianne Kjærsund, Sigrid Kopperdal, Julie Moviken, Berglind Rafnsdottir and Charlott Utzig, costume designer Thale Kvam Olsen and lighting designer Elisabeth Nilsson, Kristin Ryg Helgebostad - with her cheerleader experience - returns to her roots. Together, they transform the cheers, chants, acrobatics and pyramids! They are looking for intricate routes up and down from each other. Their throws can be small and careful, their cheers can be whispered or hissed, as long as they get something to happen!

Cheers!
is the follow-up to composer/bellringer Laura Marie Rueslåtten’s and choreographer/dancer Kristin Ryg Helgebostad’s first full-length production, the critics’ award nominated and critically acclaimed Me Too, which for the last two years has been touring numerous countries with the international networks Aerowaves and ICE HOT. Me Too is a group choreography with handbells.
