Unknown dance
How could we imagine a repertoire outside of what we already know and appreciate of dance? This question is the starting point for the project Bazm (Repertoire), the incentive for the work is to fabricate an entirely forged repertoire, turning the notion into a lens for an active questioning of the modes of recognition, authentication and conception of dance and choreography.
Subtle and rigorous, Armin Hokmi together with an international group of artists bring on the stage a work of choreography dedicated to movements that albeit impulsive, are taken onto the body of the dancers like refined sculptures. Insistent and phrase by phrase the dance takes on new shapes, introspective to gazing outwards. Movements that are out of the heart and in the bones, with subtle shifts and flinching gestures, either bat shit crazy or gently patient, the work brings to view what it takes to define a world together. A dance full of wonder.
The performance premiered at the prestigious Montpellier Danse Festival 2026 in France and comes to Oslo at Dansens Hus for three evenings after being shown in Berlin.
