Composer and artist Lasse Passage began studying composition at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and went on to complete a BA in Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (NL). His compositional work is shaped by his background in electroacoustics (EA), rhythmic music, and the symbiosis between the two.
His works take shape in several different media: sound installations, pure loudspeaker-based works, and alternative pop music. His versatile expression and approach have in recent years resulted in numerous collaborations within the experimental performing arts field. Commissions in recent years include works for the percussion ensemble SISU, Tøyen Fil og Klafferi, Alpaca, as well as solo works for eminent performers such as Kristine Tjøgersen, Ole Martin Hauser Olsen, and Sanae Yoshida. His electroacoustic piece “Hei!” was performed at the New York Electroacoustic Music Festival. As a songwriter and producer, he has previously released three solo albums under his own name—the most recent, Sunwards, was released on Sofa Records.
