The public is invited to join a ritual of difference and to hold each other’s grief outside Kulturkirken Jakob. Kurdish, Palestinian, Libanese, Bosnian, Greek, Gambian, Israeli, Norwegian, and Jewish voices and melodies create a weave through this gathering.
How to mourn, how to move through despair, how to hold ourselves and each other. How to contain the pain of others. Samkome is an attempt. In impossible situations. In spaces that have already collapsed. There is no other way but to try. Together. This is an attempt for today. An attempt to mourn.
How to continue living, how to host what feels inconceivable, how to open for a gentle encounter. How to repair.
Song, poetry, and fire move us through this together—friends and strangers.
-  My grief is lifted out of me to something greater than myself; a gathering. This is the strength and central characteristic of the ritual, that the repetitions in the community are both symbolic and concrete. Like when two weaponless hands meet in a handshake of greeting.
Review of Samkome in the Norwegian Shakespeare Journal, Willy Walder.
