Piecemaking, 19.–26. August 2018

19.–26. August 2018

Spilles: Sun 19. Aug 2018 Sat 25. Aug Sun 26. Aug

For the third year in a row, Praxisfestival is taking over Dansens Hus in August!

The title of this year’s festival is Piecemaking, and its focus is on the process of creating a piece. How does what we are investigating transform into an artistic expression, and does that expression then become the piece? The thinking within the piece – where does it begin and where does it end? What can a piece be, and how do we define it? These are the leading questions to which the team behind this year’s festival hopes to find new answers – and new questions. The team includes the three festival artists Kate Pendry (NO), Alice Chauchat (FR/DE) and Ivo Dimchev (BG) who will contribute with workshops, discussions, seminars and performances.

The festival starts with a Q&A session with the artists in the foyer of Dansens Hus on Sunday 19 August at 19:00. This is free and open to everyone. This will be followed by five days of workshops for professional performance artists and a seminar held jointly with PRAXIS Oslo. There will be performances by and including the festival artists on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 August at Dansens Hus.

Sunday 25 August, 19:00: Kate Pendry’s Johnny Johnson in #MyTool (duration approx. 1 hour).
Sunday 26 August, 15:00: Ivo Dimchev Avoiding DeLIFEeath (duration approx. 3 hours)

Price: NOK 100 per performance.
