Pix on Art

25. - 26. August 2026

International

This year’s film programme is split into two, and shows how body, movement and cinematic storytelling talk about (self-)staging, and the definition of power, identity and tradition.

Mecenaten1

On Tuesday 25 August, the theme is (self-)staging and how we as people create versions of ourselves, both in everyday life and on the stage. The Swedish thriller Mecenaten and the meta documentary The Moment show how a con artist and a pop artist (Charli XCX) operate in a world and in situations where control of persona, image and theatre is pushed to the limit. After the screening of Charli XCX’s mockumentary, Dansens Hus and Oslo Pix invite you to a dance party.

On Wednesday 26 August, we will be screening two documentary films, each of which in its own way tells us how the history and traditions of the indigenous people of North America are surviving, both on their own terms and on those of others. The films Aanikoobijigan [ancestor/great-grandparent/great-grandchild] and Powwow People are a tribute to tradition and rituals, but also a criticism of the western art world’s fixation with objects and understanding of time and space, dance and music.
