- It’s loud, joyous, physical, close. […] A celebration of the body, of performance, of life.

It is not often that hits from the 80s are the musical soundscape in productions at Dansens Hus. LOVETRAIN2020 is the exception. In a flamboyant and lavish production with fourteen amazing dancers, it is Tears For Fears and their many timeless hits that are the musical starting point for choreographer Emanuel Gant. He is interested in the interplay between choreography and music, the visual and the auditory, in order to create space for observation, to study and not least to create narratives. Thomas Bradley, who is one of the company’s dancers, has, in the design of the dramatic costumes – elegant, baroque and voluminous – found his inner Vivienne Westwood, another 80s icon. The result is a feast for the senses and a celebration of togetherness, life and love. Smoke is used on stage in this performance.

Emanuel Gat first discovered dance at the age of 23 at a workshop with the choreographer Nir Ben. Shortly after, he started as a dancer with the Liat Dror Nir Ben Gal Company, with which he has toured internationally. He has been creating his own pieces since 1994, and now works mainly with his own company, Emanuel Gat Dance, which is based in Istres in France. He is considered to be an important and influential choreographer in Europe, and his productions have been received with enthusiasm and great acclaim throughout the world. He is also used as a choreographer for other companies, including the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, Ballet du Rhin, Ballet National de Marseille, Ballet de Lorraine, Opéra de Lyon, Sydney Dance Company, Tanztheater Bremen, Candoco Dance Company (UK), Grand Théâtre de Geneve, Los Angeles Dance Project, Vancouver's Ballet British Columbia and Kungliga Balletten at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. He has received a number of awards, and LOVETRAIN2020 was given the French critics’ award. The production was developed during the pandemic, and had its world première at the major international dance festival in Montpellier in 2020.
