In First Person The Dance is an encounter with nine transgender performers on a journey on which the boundaries between trans/non-trans, performers/audience and stage/home are erased. The production plays with the concepts of reality and fiction, looks at the consequences of different choices and which bodies are represented on the stage, and presents a new way of creating beauty and desire. In First Person originates from a wish to include, involve and acknowledge everyone in society, and create a space in which we have the courage to enter the darkness and bring colour to each other’s grey zones. In a time of social distancing, our goal is to achieve other kinds of intimacy. Transgender people cannot bring about change by themselves – society has to change with them.

In First Person premièred at the Oktoberdans 2020 festival. This collaborative performance is made up of three parts: The House [Digital], The Festival and The Dance – and it is the latter that is being performed at Dansens Hus.

71BODIES is a multidimensional, multigender dance and performance company based in Bergen. Daniel Mariblanca started the company in 2016 from a strong artistic need to express and communicate the complexity involved in transcending gender boundaries and stereotypes.

«The Dance» er nemlig scenekunst av nytt kaliber

https://subjekt.no/2021/08/27/viktigste-som-har-skjedd-norsk-scenekunst-siden-raskolmikov/
