About the workshop:
The workshop is based on improvisation and choreographic tasks developed in the process developing the performance The Fold of ^ a Landscape. Through individual and collective investigations, we explore how body, movement and space can continuously influence and shape each other. We will work with attention, spatial relations and changing connections between bodies and surroundings. Through various tasks, we investigate how movements can arise, transform and fold into new situations, and how we can move between the individual and the collective.
The workshop emphasizes improvisation as a way of listening, observing and responding – to one's own body, to others and to the space we find ourselves in.
Biography:
Since the beginning of their collaboration in 1996, Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki have created over 30 performances that have been shown in more than 35 countries.
Together they explore performativity as a porous and fluid interplay between movement, sound, image and technology. Their work draws inspiration from a wide range of disciplines and creates complex expressions where dance is expanded into an arena for exploration. With sensitivity to both the organic and the artificial, they blur boundaries and create spaces where new meanings can arise, silently or completely unexpectedly.
At the core of their artistic work lies a desire to re-explore the body's relationship to its surroundings, and to invite the audience into this continuous process of discovery. In 2025, they received the Hedda Prize for the performance until, which premiered at Dansens Hus in Oslo.
