Lecture: Jazz dance in Norway – a Historical Introduction
In collaboration with Danseinformasjonen, Dansens Hus is showing the lecture ‘Jazz Dance in Norway – A Historical Introduction’.

In this lecture, Danseinformasjonen's historian Sigrid Ø. Svendal will talk about when jazz dance came to Norway and how the genre has developed. She will highlight some key figures, companies and events that have been of great significance, and discuss how the reception of the genre has shaped and continues to shape the understanding of jazz dance today. She will also touch on the discussion of high and popular culture and cultural appropriation in relation to jazz dance.
The lecture will last approximately an hour.
