Ludvig Herstad / WALK Dance Company:
In this workshop, Ludvig draws on methods and material created in the work on the performance Pinocchio-paradokset (The Pinocchio Paradox). The performance explores the equality of dance and music in the stage space, an enormous physical drive and suggestion as a phenomenon in dance and performing arts. Participants will work with both improvisation and set material, which can be found in the work. They will be challenged on tempo and rhythm, and gain a solid insight into WALK's working methods and physical characteristics.
Nina Lill Svendsen:
The workshop starts with a short improvisation before we begin jazz warm-up with both basic and advanced exercises for body and soul. Then we move across the floor before starting a jazz combination.
The ambition of the 2-hour session is to let participants experience a playful and enthusiastic approach to jazz dance technique and expression. This is not a performance space, but a rehearsal space where we explore, develop and experience something together in the spirit of jazz dance.

Ludvig Herstad is a Norwegian dancer and choreographer. He graduated from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts with a bachelor's degree in jazz dance in 2018, and since then he has worked in a wide range of institutions, independent projects, film and television, both as a choreographer and dancer. Together with the other members of WALK Dance Company, Ludvig has produced a number of shorter works since 2017, based on musicality as the driving force for choreography. In recent years, Ludvig has focused more on the choreographic part of his work, choreographing major musicals such as Matilda! at Rogaland Theatre, Jul i Svingen at Den Nationale Scene and Oljå at Haugesund Theatre. In addition to this, in 2023 he created his first half-length performance, ‘Pinocchio-paradokset’ (The Pinocchio Paradox), with the Spellemann Prize-winning rock band Undergrünnen, and Herstad/Berstad for Kompani Haugesund with Hedda Prize winner Ingeleiv Berstad in 2024. Pinocchio-paradokset will tour nationally in 2025 as part of Dansenett Norge's programme, as well as at music festivals.
