Workshop: Bysheim-Patry x PRODA

In the workshop, we will explore tasks and methods that we use in the process leading up to the performance Blue Carousel. Through improvisation and tasks, we try to move between the absurd and the expectant. We work with repetition and insistence as a choreographic tool.

The workshop is an attempt to create spectacular moments by exploring power and seduction. The workshop is led by Lisa Colette Bysheim and Katrine Patry and is in English.

BIOs:
Lisa Colette Bysheim (1991) is a dancer and choreographer from Bergen, Norway. She works with the materiality of language, choreography, movement, text, sound, scores and meaning. She holds a master's degree in choreography from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2021).

Key issues in her work are investigating the transformation and deconstruction of structures and systems in language and social codes. Her choreographic approach has been to create playful approaches that open up ambiguous meanings and context; with underlying themes of equality and soft power.

Lisa is currently collaborating with dancer Katrine Patry (CA/NO), visual artist Sophia Gatzkan (AT) and choreographer/dancer Max Wallmeier (DK/DE). She will participate as a dancer in new works by Fieldworks - Heine Avdal & Yukiko Shinozaki, and Janne-Camilla Lyster in 2024.

Lisa's choreographic works have been presented at, among others: The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet (Oslo), Dansens Hus (Oslo), BIT Teatergarasjen (Bergen) CODA International Dance Festival (Oslo), Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Galleri F15 & Momentum (Moss), Officine Forte Marghera (Venice), Spazju Kreattiv (Malta), Theaterforum Kreuzberg (Berlin). Recent international residencies include: Onassis AIR Athens, SE.S.TA, Czech Republic, TanzFabrik Berlin and Bears in the Park in Vienna.

Katrine Patry (1986) is a dance artist from Quebec, Canada, now based in Oslo, Norway. She has performed works by Jacques Poulin-Denis, Alan Lake, Harold Rhéaume, Catherine Tardif, Lydia Wagerer, Mélanie Demers, Dominique Porte, Louise Bédard, Emmanuel Jouthe and Shaula Cambazzu, among others. Her attraction and curiosity for the human being and different types of expression has led her to explore mainly movement, but also visual art, architecture and the anatomical and physiological body.

These combined explorations have made Patry interested in the idea of necessity. In her artistic work, she is keen to purify and distill qualities of movement. She is fascinated by what she calls "the richness of simplicity" and how it can be achieved. For her, it's about discovering the simplest way that triggers imagination and references in the audience.

Katrine has been active in the performing arts field since 2007 and has performed in works presented on several stages in Canada, USA, South Korea, Belgium, Norway and Wales.
