De Røde Skoene is an interactive theatre installation with magical red shoes, dance, songs, music, puppet theatre and games.

This presentation is aimed at the smallest children, aged one year and upwards, and in the course of the performance children are able to participate and have contact with the players.

The little ones are allowed to move around the room and participate if they want to. The dancers sometimes improvise around the events that transpire in their immediate encounters with the children. The children will see many types of red shoes, boots containing secret underwater worlds, slippers with intriguing sounds inside, shoes that float in the air, and shoes with eyes, teeth and hair. Some shoes have lights, and some just want to dance. Will a snake shoe show up, or a shoe that wants to learn to walk by itself?

The presentation is based on a fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, and revolves around the magical and spellbinding qualities of red shoes – shoes which have their own willpower! Some of the shoes in the installation are shoe-headsets with sound compositions inside. This production has developed its own sound and movement language which can be understood and appreciated by everyone, regardless of age.
