Emergency preparedness in case of art!

“I have presented myself with a challenge: I am going to dive. I have obviously been inspired by the well-known picture of a diving woman on a package of sweets. She leads me to the edge, back to the diving tower at the Hvalstrand pool and functionalism. I want to establish new connections effortlessly. I want to get under the skin of the space and the architecture. I want to be there, at exactly the right time, when everything changes – I want to be there then, grab my mother’s blue hat before the wind carries it away.

‘Pastillstupet’ is a production about challenging limitations and exploring new connections, and it makes use of expressive elements of sport, dance, documentary, verbal reflection, functional actions and space art.

Martin Slaatto has made his mark in the past decade with productions that are full of ideas, confrontations and humour. “Pastillstupet” is related to “Rå sløyfe” (2007), “Sløyfa” (2004), “Skavanken” (2002) and “Mann med motorsykkel R100CS”/“ Uanmeldt hopper” (1998). These projects combine autobiographical material, documentary and creative imagination, where the solo format is accompanied by clearly scenographic and spatial features which function as fellow performers – often with an element of risk. In addition to his own projects, Martin Slaatto works with theatre and film on a freelance basis.
