The Past and the Curious 20.–27. August

Festival for professional dance artists.

This year’s Praxis Festival is entitled The Past and the Curious, and focuses on the various directions that western performance art history has followed. The three festival artists Benoît Lachambre/Par B.L.eux, Jamie Scott and Lars Øyno are making the heritage of 1960s post-modern dance in the USA and of Antonin Artaud accessible for participants and audiences. We are using our chosen theme to ask questions about the physical legacy that we as performance artists have inherited, about artistic stamina and sustainability, and about what we pass on in our future art and artistry – of which the audience becomes a part.

The festival starts with a Q&A session with the artists in the foyer of Dansens Hus on Sunday 20 August at 17:00. This is free and open to everyone. There will then be five days of workshops for professional performance artists. The festival will end with a seminar and performances at Dansens Hus on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August.
